mañanarama

dearest friends, foes, fans, followers and fellow bloggers:

as you must've realized by now, candyland is kaput. it's been a nice run, with its ups and downs. i'm not particularly proud of any given post here. each blog i start seems to move further and further away from the simple, self-referential "authorship" mode and closer to an engagement with everything that's out there. i think this is what made candyland worthwhile. but the candy ran out.

the good news is i've already moved on. i'll be blogging at mañanarama now. there you'll find all sorts of visual and textual goodies on the subject of failed development, bogus modernization, and other urban or architectural dreams deffered. i've decided to concentrate on mexico, for once (i'm sure a big part of it is homesickness, considering this is already my third year away from d.f.), though I'll probably indulge in the occasional musing on (pan)americana, mid-century manias, tercermundismo or just random mexotica.

it was nice having you here, and i hope you'll come on down to mañanarama and take a look (if you like it, make sure you update your links and feeds). there's also a little tumblr appendix to the blog. See you there...
